SIX the Musical is as extravagant as you would imagine. The production is filled with outrageous costumes, fantastic musical numbers, and many more. Most importantly though, its soundtrack will definitely fill your ears and have you singing to yourself all the way home!

In the show, each of the ex-wives embodies a couple of modern “Queenspirations”: Catherine of Aragon channels the spirit of pop princesses like Beyonce and Shakira; Anne Boleyn exudes star power and cheek reminiscent of Lily Allen and Avril Lavigne; Jane Seymour delivers a lovely ballad that hits the mark; Anne of Cleves commands the stage with her killer stage presence; Katherine Howard gracefully transitions from blithe to dark in one short song; and Catherine Parr astounds with stunning vocals and carries the show into a heartfelt denouement.

The New York Times couldn’t help but gush, calling SIX an absolute ruler and even giving it the coveted “Critic’s Pick” status. Meanwhile, The Washington Post hailed it as precisely the kind of uplifting and inspirational show that brightens up the city.

Another expected achievement is that “SIX: LIVE ON OPENING NIGHT” Broadway album burst onto the scene, making its debut at Number 1 on the Billboard Cast album charts. In just its first month, it clocked over 6 million streams – showing just how much folks are loving it! Some of the most unforgettable tracks include “Ex-Wives,” “I Don’t Need Your Love,” and “All You Wanna Do.” To be honest, we’re willing to bet that as soon as you walk out of the theatre, you’ll be humming some of these catchy tunes!

“The most uplifting new British musical I have ever had the privilege to watch.” – Evening Standard

“A euphoric celebration!” – Entertainment Weekly

“Pure entertainment!” – The New York Times

SIX is a lively British musical comedy created by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. It’s like a modern spin on the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives but presented as a pop concert. Each wife takes a turn telling her story to see who had it the roughest with their shared husband.

This musical had its start at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, where students from Cambridge University put on the first performances. Then it hit the West End in January 2019 and even went on a tour around the UK. In January 2020, an Australian version graced the Sydney Opera House. It made its Broadway debut in March 2020 but had to take a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, it roared back to life at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on October 3, 2021. There are also two North American tours, known as the “Aragon” and “Boleyn” tours, which kicked off in 2022.

One of the best reviews of the production came from The Guardian. The review perfectly encompassed the message that SIX the Musical was trying to send. The review wrote, “Musicals aren’t always kind to women (some classics are downright misogynist), but Six is a joyous celebration of sisterhood. It’s the kind of show that makes you want to be a teenager again; if you’d found Six when you were sixteen, you’d be obsessed too. No wonder it’s getting 60,000 streams per day.”

If you’re a woman, you’re bound to have a damn good time at this show. If you’re a man, you need to see this show just to understand how powerful it is to be a woman! Right now, the production is running at the renowned Lena Horne Theatre (previously Brooks Atkinson Theatre). As of writing, the show is running until March 2024. This limited Broadway engagement may never come back again, so you need to be sure to catch it live!

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. The story of Henry VIII’s six wives can’t get any better than this! If you want an ultra-feminist and ultra-modern Broadway production, you definitely can’t miss this. Join the show at the Lena Horne Theatre! You can even catch a drink with your friends after seeing such a lively musical.
